Technical details and manufacturing context for Sleeve Anchor

Definition
A sleeve anchor is a mechanical expansion anchor with a threaded stud or bolt and an expandable sleeve. It fastens fixtures to concrete or masonry only where the exact product approval and substrate instructions permit. Buyers should specify approval, substrate, anchor diameter and length, embedment, fixture thickness, hole cleaning, edge distance, spacing, torque and load data. Safety and load values must come from the selected product standard, approval, drawing or test report; they cannot be inferred from appearance or nominal size. The RFQ should also state quantity, packaging, inspection and traceability requirements. This product is a component used in fabricated metal product manufacturing. It is available in zinc-plated steel or stainless steel where approved. The exact product drawing, approval or test report is required to confirm the applicable standard and evidence. Nominal size and range are approval-defined; the anchor length, embedment and fixture thickness must be stated. Strength and performance depend on the exact approval and load table for the substrate, spacing and edge distance. Surface finish must be the approval-listed corrosion class and coating. When requesting a quote, specify approval, substrate, anchor diameter and length, embedment, fixture thickness, hole cleaning, edge distance, spacing, torque and load data. Always verify model-specific values and standards with the legal manufacturer or supplier before use.
Working Principle
Tightening draws the cone or expander into the sleeve so it presses against the hole wall; capacity depends on the approved installation. The anchor is inserted into a pre-drilled hole in concrete or masonry. As the nut or bolt is tightened, the cone or expander is pulled into the sleeve, forcing the sleeve to expand radially against the hole wall. This creates a mechanical interlock that resists pullout and shear forces. The load capacity is not inherent to the anchor alone but is determined by the interaction with the specific substrate, hole preparation, and installation torque. Therefore, the approved installation procedure and parameters must be followed exactly to achieve the rated performance. Any deviation from the approved installation, such as incorrect hole depth, insufficient cleaning, or improper torque, can reduce capacity and lead to failure. The anchor's performance is verified through testing and documented in the product approval or test report.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a sleeve anchor?

A sleeve anchor is a mechanical expansion anchor consisting of a threaded stud or bolt and an expandable sleeve. When tightened, the sleeve expands against the hole wall to secure fixtures to concrete or masonry.

What materials are available?

The sleeve anchor is available in zinc-plated steel or stainless steel where approved. The specific material must be confirmed against the product approval and manufacturer evidence.

How do I select the right sleeve anchor?

Selection requires specifying the approval, substrate, anchor diameter and length, embedment, fixture thickness, hole cleaning, edge distance, spacing, torque and load data. These must be verified against the product standard, approval, drawing or test report.

Can I use a sleeve anchor in any concrete or masonry?

No. Use is permitted only where the exact product approval and substrate instructions allow. Always follow the approved installation procedure and verify load values with the manufacturer.
