Technical details and manufacturing context for Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS) Machine

Definition
A vertical form fill seal machine converts a single web of heat-sealable film into finished bags, filling and sealing them in the same vertical path. Film is drawn over a forming collar and tube, sealed longitudinally, filled from above through the tube by an auger, multihead weigher, or volumetric cup filler, then cross-sealed and cut. VFFS machines dominate snack, grain, powder, and frozen food packaging, producing pillow bags, gusseted bags, and block-bottom formats at speeds from about 20 to 200 bags per minute depending on bag size, film, and dosing system.
Working Principle
Film from the reel passes tension and registration sensors, wraps around a forming collar into a tube, and a heated vertical jaw makes the longitudinal seal. Product drops through the forming tube during the dwell between cross-seals; the horizontal jaws then seal the bag top and the next bag bottom simultaneously and a knife separates the finished bag.
Common Materials
stainless steel 304 frame and contact surfaces, hardened forming collar and tube, PTFE-coated sealing jaws, food-grade polymer film contact rollers, servo drives and touch-panel PLC
