An aluminium profile T-slot nut is a threaded steel or stainless nut that sits in the groove of an extruded aluminium framing profile, so brackets, panels and fittings can be bolted anywhere along it. Ask three things first: which profile system and groove size it fits, whether it inserts from the end or twists in at any point and how it is held in place, and what permissible force and tightening torque apply in your profile.

The standard bright zinc-plated steel nut can be twisted into place at any point along the Line 8 groove and is held by a spring-mounted thrust piece; the heavy-duty version is wider and must be slid in from the profile end. Nuts with an anti-torsion device have a raised centre that extends into the groove opening so they position themselves automatically. [1][2]

Editorial calculation: a bracket carrying 600 kg (about 5,900 N) in tension on two Line 8 nuts puts about 2,950 N on each, within the 5000 N nut rating; check the profile's groove and the screw for the same load and add a design factor for dynamic or shock loads. [1]
