Technical details and manufacturing context for Body-Worn Camera

Definition
Body-worn cameras are portable recording devices worn on the torso or head to capture high-definition video and audio, primarily used by police, security personnel, and industrial inspectors to document interactions and incidents. They are specified by resolution, frame rate, field of view, battery life, storage capacity, and durability (IP rating, drop resistance). Grades range from entry-level models with 1080p resolution and basic features to advanced units with 4K recording, GPS, live streaming, and AI capabilities. Higher-grade cameras use better sensors, lenses, and materials to ensure reliable performance in harsh environments.
Working Principle
The camera uses a CMOS image sensor to convert light into electrical signals, which are processed by an image signal processor (ISP) to produce digital video. The lens focuses light onto the sensor, and the ISP handles exposure, white balance, and compression. Audio is captured via a built-in microphone and processed by an audio codec. The recorded data is stored on internal flash memory or a microSD card, and can be transferred via USB or Wi-Fi.
Common Materials
Aluminum alloy (e.g., 6061-T6) for housing, Polycarbonate/ABS plastic for body, Gorilla Glass or tempered glass for lens cover, Stainless steel for mounting clip, Lithium-ion polymer battery
